Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jahn Blom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gary Potgieter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Gary Potgieter was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Nard Betker and Radbod Blank.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Potgieter moves in looking to clinch but Blom pushes him off.
Potgieter lands a two punch combo.
Potgieter throws a head kick that half lands.
Potgieter wants to clinch.
Potgieter ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Potgieter gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Potgieter successfully pulls guard.
Blom working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Potgieter is looking to stand back up but Blom counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Potgieter.

Potgieter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Blom. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Blom prevents Potgieter from improving his position.
Potgieter is looking to get back to full guard here but Blom has managed to pass to side control instead.
Potgieter wants to control but Blom postures up.
Blom wants to lay and pray for a moment but Potgieter keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Potgieter is looking for a sweep.
Blom remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Potgieter throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Blom's head.

Potgieter tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Potgieter rushes Blom and presses him up against the cage.
Potgieter wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Blom goes for a takedown in the clinch but Potgieter prevents it.

Blom is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Blom is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jahn Blom just wasn't active enough.

Blom gets the takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Blom is trying to get an arm triangle but Potgieter is defending well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jahn Blom will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Blom keeps the fight on the outside.
Blom takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Potgieter works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Blom tries to clinch up.
A slapping leg kick lands for Potgieter.
Blom tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Potgieter paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Blom shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Potgieter but Potgieter pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Potgieter is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Potgieter gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Blom to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Jahn Blom has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Blom fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Potgieter looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Potgieter moves into range and clinches up with Blom.

Potgieter is looking to control Blom's arms but Blom gets an underhook and turns him. Now Potgieter has his back to the cage.
Blom is looking for a takedown.

Potgieter can't break the clinch.
Potgieter creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Blom's defenses.
A frustrated look appears on Potgieter's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Potgieter throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Potgieter throws a front kick that sends Blom stumbling back into the cage.
Potgieter fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Potgieter swats away the attempt to clinch by Blom.
Blom shoots in and drives through. Potgieter sprawls well.
Potgieter tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Blom manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Gary Potgieter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Potgieter throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Blom takes a kick to the side of the head.
Potgieter fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Blom takes a swing at Potgieter's ribcage but misses.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Blom.

Blom shoots in and bounces Potgieter off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Potgieter wants to sweep but no luck.

Blom gets to his feet - Potgieter follows without any prompting.
Potgieter lands with a kick to the temple. Blom shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Potgieter instigates a clinch.

Potgieter works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Blom is looking to sinch up a triangle. Potgieter throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Blom's body to avoid the submission. Blom has instead reached around Potgieter's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Blom arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
