Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Kiyah Matsumoto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ippo Makunouchi!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Felipe Paraventi and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Makunouchi rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Matsumoto moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Matsumoto ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Makunouchi moves away.
Matsumoto looks to score with a jab to the body but Makunouchi is just out of range.

Makunouchi throws a jab but it's blocked by Matsumoto.
Matsumoto is looking to clinch.

Matsumoto closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Makunouchi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Matsumoto. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Matsumoto is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Makunouchi knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Matsumoto has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Makunouchi tries to get back to half guard but can't.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Makunouchi can do anything to dispel that myth.

Makunouchi swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Matsumoto bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Matsumoto takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Makunouchi tries to bum rush Matsumoto with a series of wild strikes but Matsumoto uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Matsumoto closes this distance looking for a takedown but Makunouchi circles away.

Matsumoto is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Matsumoto shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Matsumoto showed some decent athleticism there.
Matsumoto moves nicely into side control.
Matsumoto works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Matsumoto tries to score with some ground and pound. Makunouchi controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Makunouchi is looking to regain half guard here but Matsumoto keeps moving and retains side control.

Matsumoto is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Makunouchi has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kiyah Matsumoto overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The strikes coming from Matsumoto are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Makunouchi is posturing up here but Matsumoto has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Makunouchi tries to roll out but it's too tight and Makunouchi has to tap! Slick submission there by Matsumoto!
