Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between William Barker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Caeas Liege (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barker comes into the arena with The Way of the Fist - Five Finger Death Punch blaring out of the sound system. Liege has chosen Will T. Bear: For a Few Dollars as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Caeas Liege!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Sergei Dronov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barker moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Liege looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Liege swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Barker tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Liege swivels and escapes.

Liege throws a hook but Barker blocks it.

Barker shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Caeas Liege hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

It looks like William Barker has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Liege punishes Barker's body with a nice straight punch.
Liege on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Barker moves in looking to clinch but Liege pushes him off.

Barker feints and as Liege raises his hands in defense, Barker changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Barker is stalling here. Liege is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Barker seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Liege has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Liege gets to mount! Barker was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Liege drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Barker dives on top into guard.

Barker throws a strike but Liege rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Liege has gone for a leg lock! Barker slips out almost immediately though and dives into Liege's guard.
William Barker overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Liege drops back looking for a leg! Barker is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Barker manages to kick Liege off! Liege jumps back into Barker's guard.
Liege stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Barker swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Barker manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Liege is wriggling around trying to escape.
Barker trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Liege regains half guard.
Barker works his foot free and advances to mount.
Liege tries to hold on but Barker pushes him away.
Barker looking to ground and pound but Liege is blocking nicely.

Barker thowing shots but they're missing.
Liege is trying desperately to improve position.
Barker lands a heavy elbow.
Caeas Liege has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Liege avoids a strike by Barker and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Barker's guard! Fantastic escape!

Barker has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Liege can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Liege has control of Barker's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Barker regains control of the situation pretty easily.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to William Barker.
Well Barker has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, William Barker was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
