The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Calia looks to land a combination but Kendricks avoids it well.
Calia throws a right and a left that both miss.
Jim Calia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Calia swings for the body but Kendricks moves out of range.
Kendricks shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Calia counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

and Calia counters with a nice uppercut.
Kendricks tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Calia swivels and escapes.

Calia will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kendricks takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

and Calia counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Calia takes a swing at Kendricks's ribcage but misses.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Kendricks. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Kendricks feints and as Calia raises his hands in defense, Kendricks changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Calia is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kendricks defends well.
