The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Willy tries for a takedown but Calvo sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Sloppy strikes from Calvo. Those never looked like landing.
Calvo fails to land with a series of punches.

Calvo moves into the clinch successfully.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Calvo creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Willy fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Willy tries for a takedown. No joy.
Jimmy Calvo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Big Willy.

Willy has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Calvo uses from the top position.
Calvo wants to get up but he can't break Willy's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Calvo has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Willy is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Calvo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Willy on the ground.
