Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andre Roussimoff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Carrier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mike Carrier has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andre Roussimoff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Carrier!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carrier moves in looking to clinch but Roussimoff pushes him off.
Carrier wants to clinch

and Roussimoff counters with a single leg into guard. Carrier didn't expect that.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Roussimoff is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Roussimoff prevents Carrier from getting back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Roussimoff controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Roussimoff stands and throws Carrier's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Carrier trying to remain calm as Roussimoff controls from the top position.
Roussimoff has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Roussimoff lands an elbow.

Roussimoff decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Roussimoff thows a body shot but no joy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carrier throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Roussimoff tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Carrier was well out of range. Poor timing from Roussimoff.

Roussimoff fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Carrier sprawls well initially but Roussimoff persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Well, if Roussimoff is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Carrier wants to get back to his feet.

We're going to have a standup here because Andre Roussimoff wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Carrier circles away from the clinch attempt.
Carrier closes this distance looking for a takedown but Roussimoff circles away.
Carrier fails in his attempt to clinch.

Roussimoff throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Carrier tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Roussimoff is in Carrier's guard.
Carrier really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Roussimoff. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Roussimoff stops Carrier from standing up.
Roussimoff really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Roussimoff gets to his feet. Carrier looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Mike Carrier seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Roussimoff blocks a head kick by Carrier.
Carrier lands a head kick!

Roussimoff drives through and clinches with Carrier against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Roussimoff utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Carrier prevents the takedown attempt.
Roussimoff pressing his opponent against the cage.
Carrier has had enough of the clinch but Roussimoff keeps him there for the moment.
A head punch on the inside from Roussimoff fails to land.

Roussimoff tightens his grip and picks Carrier up, before dumping him to the ground. Carrier manages to land in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Roussimoff showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Carrier wants to stand and escape but Roussimoff is having none of it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Roussimoff is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andre Roussimoff dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Carrier avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Roussimoff closes the distance and clinches up with Carrier, looking for a takedown. Roussimoff pushes Carrier against the cage but Carrier circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Carrier tries to close the distance and clinch but Roussimoff swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Roussimoff moves into range and clinches up with Carrier.
Roussimoff changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Carrier fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Carrier fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Roussimoff checks it well.

Carrier has a takedown stuffed.
Carrier moves out of range of the body kick.
Carrier shoots in for a double leg but Roussimoff sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Carrier forces Roussimoff back against the cage and clinches.
Roussimoff's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Roussimoff pulls guard successfully.
Roussimoff is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Roussimoff content to control rather than advance.
Roussimoff passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Carrier!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Roussimoff has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Carrier's face.

Carrier really wants to buck Roussimoff off and get back to his feet.

Roussimoff swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
