The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richards misses with a hook
and Weidman counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Richards thinking.
Weidman is looking to clinch but Richards is avoiding it.
Weidman could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Richards throws a leg kick that is checked
and Weidman counters with a flying knee that sends his opponent to the canvas! Weidman looking to finish!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Richards tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Richards controls Weidman momentarily but Weidman frees himself.
Richards has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Weidman has passed into side control.
Weidman has hold of Richards's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Richards seems comfortable defending it but Weidman has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Richards is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Richards is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Weidman couldn't care less - he's delighted!
