Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andre Roussimoff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Juan Hernandez!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hernandez takes one to the side of the head.
Roussimoff connects with a jab.

Hernandez darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Roussimoff misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Roussimoff actively working from the bottom here.
Roussimoff is looking to get back to full guard here but Hernandez has managed to pass to side control instead.
Roussimoff is looking for a sweep.
Hernandez postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Roussimoff is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Roussimoff has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The strikes coming from Hernandez are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Hernandez controlling the position.
Roussimoff manages to get back to half guard.
Hernandez throwing shots but Roussimoff is blocking nicely.
Hernandez is keen to just control but Roussimoff is a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Roussimoff is looking to control Hernandez's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Roussimoff avoid being mounted?
Roussimoff tries to get to full guard but Hernandez has control of the leg.

Roussimoff desperately trying to maintain half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Hernandez scores with a takedown into Roussimoff's guard.

Roussimoff has his foot on Hernandez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hernandez works his way back into a safe position though.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hernandez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Roussimoff escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hernandez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Roussimoff bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hernandez's guard.
Roussimoff trying to control but Hernandez is working from the bottom.
Hernandez looking for a sweep. Not yet Hernandez, not yet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hernandez is trying to keep Roussimoff in close.
Hernandez wants to hit a switch here but Roussimoff passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Hernandez there!
Hernandez is trying to escape the mount.

Roussimoff is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Hernandez can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Roussimoff trying to control but Hernandez is having none of it.
Hernandez is looking to get to half guard.

Roussimoff goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Hernandez turns into him and now he's in Roussimoff's guard.

Roussimoff had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hernandez defends it easily.

Roussimoff is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Hernandez rolls with it to try and escape but Roussimoff cranks on the arm and Hernandez is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Andre Roussimoff!
