PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Pianko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Siaki Krause (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jeff Pianko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Siaki Krause!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pianko shoots for a takedown but Krause saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Pianko closes the distance and clinches.

Pianko pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Pianko tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Pianko shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Krause sprawls well. Krause wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pianko gets slowly back to his feet.
Krause tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pianko swivels and escapes.
Pianko's jab looks to have found its range, popping Krause under the eye.

Krause tries to keep at a distance but Pianko has taken the fight into the clinch.
Krause gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Pianko.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeff Pianko. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pianko wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Krause has him pressed against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pianko prevents a takedown attempt there.
Pianko tries for a takedown. No joy.
Pianko misses with a knee strike.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Pianko.

Pianko pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Krause is defended easily by Pianko.

Pianko moves into the clinch.

Pianko has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Krause after a bit of a struggle.
Pianko wants a takedown.

Pianko pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Krause throws a body punch but Pianko moves out of range.
Krause misses with a jab to the body
and Pianko counters with a three punch combo that has Krause backing up. Krause nods at Pianko to acknowledge the strikes.
A looping hook to the body misses from Krause. Pianko does a little dance to reset his feet.

Pianko moves into the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Pianko can't break the clinch.
Pianko is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Krause is defending well for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pianko is looking to break free of the clinch but Krause has double underhooks.
Pianko misses with a punch to the body.
Pianko tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Krause smiles and moves away.
Krause swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Pianko counters with a solid body kick.

Pianko closes the distance and clinches.
Pianko pushes off an throws an elbow but Krause leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Pianko pulls Krause into guard.
Pianko on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Pianko tries to get out of the position.
Krause connects with a couple of short punches.
Krause stopping the sweep attempt from Pianko.
Pianko throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pianko seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Krause landing some decent shots from guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pianko is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Krause is controlling him.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pianko utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeff Pianko dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Krause defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Pianko.

Krause changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pianko looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Krause cracks Pianko with a big right hand but Pianko just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Krause is working Pianko over with some ground and pound from side control.

Pianko wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
You can see the frustration on Pianko's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Pianko is looking to reverse the position.
Krause throws an elbow but Pianko slips to the side and avoids it well.
Pianko takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Pianko is not content to let Krause control the position.
Check out the look on Krause's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pianko is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Krause's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Pianko is trying to control but can't.

Pianko has his foot on Krause's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Krause works his way back into a safe position though.

Krause chips away with some ground and pound.
Siaki Krause has got the better of the ground game so far.
Pianko keeping moving, preventing Krause from controlling successfully.
Krause postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Pianko is trying to control the position but Krause postures up.

Pianko has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Krause has passed into side control.

Pianko is trying to improve his position.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pianko tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Krause wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Siaki Krause showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Krause shoots in and drives through. Pianko sprawls well.
Pianko misses with a series of wild punches.
Pianko shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Krause pinned against the cage. Krause gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Pianko gets a clinch.
Krause tries to score a body lock takedown but Pianko shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Pianko's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Krause thows a body shot but no joy.
Pianko shoots and misses

and Krause counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Pianko!

Krause lands an elbow.
Pianko is working to avoid the ground and pound but Krause connects with a decent elbow.
Pianko has one of Krause's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.
Krause cracks Pianko with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Pianko on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Krause scores with punches from side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pianko is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Krause off and has taken his back!

Krause defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
Pianko struggling to keep hold of the position.
Krause is trying to break free.
Krause breaks Pianko's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Krause postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Pianko not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Pianko wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Krause connects with a couple of short punches.

Pianko wants to get back to his feet but Krause is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Siaki Krause comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Krause has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
