PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Calypso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Fall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Calypso comes into the arena with Jedi Mind Tricks - Genghis Khan blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Calypso!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Fall!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Decent striking displayed by Calypso there.
Fall shoots for a double leg takedown but Calypso sprawls well. He's pushed Fall's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Fall shoots in but Calypso avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Fall stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Calypso walks into a stiff left hand from Fall.
A big right from Fall misses.
Calypso ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Nice jab there from Fall.
Good exchange - Fall coming out on top.
No luck for Calypso with that takedown attempt.

Calypso gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Fall to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Fall throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Fall working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Calypso keeping moving, preventing Fall from controlling successfully.
Fall has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Calypso avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Calypso can't keep his opponent in guard - Fall advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Calypso is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Fall pulls his head out easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Calypso tries to get to full guard but Fall has control of the leg.

Fall is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Calypso doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Fall.

Calypso tries to roll over but Fall keeps him under control.
Fall sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Calypso defending well though.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Fall thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Calypso's head.

Fall is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Calypso sees it coming and defends easily.

Fall is working for a submission of some sort.

Fall is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Calypso has managed to free his arm - good work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Calypso makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Calypso.
Fall throwing strikes from guard but Calypso blocks nicely.

Calypso working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fall doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fall manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Fall is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Fall postures up in Calypso's guard and throws a big left but Calypso blocks it.
Fall working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Fall slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Fall wants to lay and pray for a moment but Calypso keeps working.
Check out the look on Fall's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Calypso tries to buck Fall off but Fall is having none of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fall goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Calypso rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Fall's guard! Nice work there by Calypso!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Calypso works a leg free and moves into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Fall dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Fall lands with a shot to the body.
Fall throws a series of punches but Calypso avoids them all with ease.
Calypso stuffs the takedown.
Fall swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Fall closes the distance and clinches up with Calypso, looking for a takedown. Fall pushes Calypso against the cage but Calypso circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Fall gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Calypso to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Calypso postures up and lands a big shot to Fall's brow.
Calypso is working Fall over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Calypso trying to control the position from guard on top but Fall is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Calypso is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Fall is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Fall is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Fall escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Calypso gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Calypso lands a couple of digs.
Fall tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Calypso in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Calypso pushes down on Fall's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Calypso seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Fall wants to control but Calypso is keeping busy.
Calypso missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Fall is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Calypso throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Fall looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Calypso looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fall is refusing to be controlled, as Calypso sits in half guard.
Calypso throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Fall is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Calypso scores with a couple of nice shots.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Calypso looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Calypso slips a nice elbow through Fall's hands, connecting with Fall's forehead.
Calypso slows the pace down in half guard.
Fall is looking to improve his position.
Calypso throwing shots but Fall is blocking nicely.
Calypso is nestled in close to Fall, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Fall wants to control but Calypso is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Fall looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Jack Calypso overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Calypso tries to pass to full mount but Fall defends it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Fall looking for submissions off his back.
Calypso will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Calypso lands strikes from half guard.
Fall is looking to control Calypso's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Fall avoid being mounted?

Fall is rocked!
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Fall is still in real trouble! Can Calypso finish him?
Calypso lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Fall! More strikes land and this one is all over! Calypso jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Calypso!
