And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Vasily Jirov!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Donald Grub and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jirov misses with a few strikes there.

Jirov manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Stryparn on his heels. He'll look to pass Stryparn's guard now, I'm sure.

Stryparn manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Stryparn is looking to work his way around to Jirov's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Stryparn jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Jirov manages to avoid the submission attempt.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jirov can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jirov wants to control but Stryparn postures up.

Stryparn tries for a kimura but Jirov is defending well.
Stryparn wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jirov keeps working.
Jirov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stryparn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Stryparn is trying to get an arm triangle but Jirov is defending well.
Stryparn is looking to take a break and control but Jirov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Stryparn tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Stryparn has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Stryparn throws a strike aimed at the side of Jirov's head but Jirov avoids it well.
Jirov is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Stryparn wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jirov keeps working.
Jirov is looking to reverse the position.
Stryparn wants to control but Jirov is keeping him busy.
Jirov tries to buck Stryparn off but Stryparn is having none of it.
Stryparn advances to mount.
Stryparn avoids the attempt from Jirov to control.

Stryparn has hold of Jirov's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Jirov manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Stryparn wants to finish this one by submission but Jirov is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Stryparn.

Stryparn is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Jirov can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Stryparn looking for a guillotine from mount but Jirov is having none of it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stryparn fails to take his opponent's back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stryparn is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jirov pulls his head out easily.

Jirov wants to get up but he can't break Stryparn's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Stryparn bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jirov's guard.
Stryparn working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Stryparn wants to control from the top but Jirov keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stryparn got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jirov has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Stryparn has managed to get both his arms back between Jirov's legs - danger averted.
Jirov has his hands on Stryparn's head, controlling the position.
Stryparn wants to control from the top but Jirov keeps moving.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Janne Stryparn.
Jirov fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Stryparn has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Jirov after a bit of a struggle.

Stryparn wants to finish this one by submission but Jirov is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Stryparn.
Jirov stops Stryparn from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Stryparn can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jirov is looking to escape.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Stryparn wants to control the pace but Jirov is squirming around nicely.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Stryparn is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Jirov to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Jirov shrugs it off.

Stryparn wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.

Stryparn goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Jirov is on top in guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Jirov counters with a crisp one two that drops Stryparn! Jirov thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Stryparn to his feet! Stryparn is in big trouble!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Janne Stryparn is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Vasily Jirov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jirov is looking for a triangle but Stryparn pushes his legs off easily.

Vasily Jirov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
