PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jan Nowak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Sutherland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paul Sutherland told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jan Nowak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Paul Sutherland!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Aafke Stam and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nowak takes a swing at Sutherland's ribcage but misses.
Sutherland misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Jan Nowak seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nowak misses with a shot to the body
and Sutherland counters with a nice leg kick.
Sutherland looks to score with a jab to the body but Nowak is just out of range.
Nowak swings for the body but Sutherland moves out of range.
Nowak tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sutherland was well out of range. Poor timing from Nowak.
Nowak lands with a hook. Sutherland tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Sutherland lands a glancing blow to the side of Nowak's head.

A looping hook to the body misses from Nowak. Sutherland does a little dance to reset his feet.

Nowak fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sutherland manages to avoid it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sutherland fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Sutherland bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Nowak lands a nice hook to Sutherland's body. Sutherland takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Nowak takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Sutherland shoots for a takedown but Nowak saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Nowak is looking to wear down Sutherland with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Sutherland steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Nowak.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Nowak.


It looks like Paul Sutherland has been cut.
Good exchange - Sutherland coming out on top.
Nowak throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Nowak lands a right hook to the body.
Sutherland throws a hook but Nowak avoids it easily.
Nowak stuns Sutherland with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Nowak swings for the body but Sutherland moves out of range.
Sutherland misses with the combination.
Nowak misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Sutherland.
Nowak lands with a shot to the body.
Nowak scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Nowak shoots in but Sutherland avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Nowak displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sutherland throws out the jab.

Sutherland feints a jab promting Nowak to slip. Sutherland then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Nowak slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.


It looks like Jan Nowak has been cut.
A lazy left from Nowak finds it's target.
Nowak leaves Sutherland with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
