Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dudley Dawson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blackjack Mulligan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dawson comes to the cage accompanied by Lambda Lambda Lambda Song. Mulligan is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Superstition. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dawson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mulligan tries to avoid it but Dawson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mulligan to the ground. Mulligan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Dawson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mulligan as he avoids it easily.

Dawson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Dawson showed some decent athleticism there.
Mulligan is not content to let Dawson control the position.
Mulligan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dawson is working away from the top position though.
Mulligan is pressing down on Dawson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Dawson pushes off an throws an elbow but Mulligan leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Dawson is fighting off a takedown attempt but Mulligan is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Dawson to the mat. Dawson regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Dawson tries to close the distance and clinch but Mulligan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Dawson feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Mulligan's calf.
Horrible takedown by Mulligan or perhaps it was just good defense by Dawson which made him look bad.

Mulligan's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Blackjack Mulligan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
