The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De La Cruz lands a high kick!

De La Cruz closes the distance and clinches.
Jax misses with a punch to the body.
De La Cruz changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Jax fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Good leg kick by Jax there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
A slapping body kick lands there for Jax.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Jax, right into the meat.
Jax goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
This has been an exciting period of action!

De La Cruz dives in and scores a takedown into Jax's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
De La Cruz throws a big elbow that misses.
De La Cruz passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Jax takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Jax takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

De La Cruz has an Americana. Jax didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! De La Cruz is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if De La Cruz hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
