Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Morpheus Vulcan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Ripgut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Morpheus Vulcan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane Ripgut!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vulcan shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Vulcan is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Vulcan not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vulcan wants to work for an arm triangle but Ripgut is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Ripgut taking some punishment here, with Vulcan in his half guard.
Ripgut really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vulcan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ripgut is pressing down on Vulcan's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Ripgut pulls Vulcan in to control the position.
Vulcan trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ripgut can do anything to dispel that myth.
Vulcan throws a big elbow that misses.
Vulcan postures up in Ripgut's guard and throws a big left but Ripgut blocks it.
Vulcan won't allow Ripgut to sweep him here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Vulcan drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Vulcan jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Ripgut should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Vulcan won't allow Ripgut to sweep him here.
Vulcan throws a big right hand that misses.
Vulcan is working Ripgut over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Vulcan is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Vulcan wants to pass the guard but Ripgut is keeping the position.

Ripgut has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Vulcan throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Vulcan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ripgut holds on and takes a little breather.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Shane Ripgut hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Ripgut misses with a head kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ripgut lands a slapping body shot.
Vulcan misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Ripgut moves into the clinch successfully.
Ripgut gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.


It looks like Morpheus Vulcan has been cut.
Ripgut lands a knee to the body.
Vulcan tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ripgut just stands there and leans against the cage.
Vulcan tries to score a body lock takedown but Ripgut shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Morpheus Vulcan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Vulcan is breathing heavily.
Ripgut controlling the action here for a moment.
Ripgut lands a nice knee to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ripgut unloads a knee to the mid-section. Vulcan lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
The referee is keeping an eye on Ripgut - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Ripgut connects with a nasty looking knee right to Vulcan's face.
Ripgut using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Vulcan wants to take the fight to the mat but Ripgut manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Ripgut drops Vulcan with a big knee straight up the middle! Vulcan is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!
A head kick by Ripgut - that's a beauty! Vulcan is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Ripgut can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Shane Ripgut!
