PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matthew Lumsden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Foster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lumsden comes to the cage accompanied by The power. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Matthew Lumsden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brock Foster!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Elvis Blanc and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lumsden closes the distance looking to clinch

and Foster counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Foster tries for a takedown. No joy.
Lumsden is trying to stall.
Lumsden gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Foster.

Foster manages to break the clinch.
Foster has a takedown stuffed.
Matthew Lumsden has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brock Foster.
Lumsden tries to close the distance and clinch up but Foster swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Lumsden really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Brock Foster wasn't active enough on the ground.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Foster has eaten all the pies!
Lumsden with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Foster blocks an elbow strike.
Lumsden is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Foster stalling the fight.
Lumsden throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Lumsden tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Foster's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Foster changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lumsden tries to avoid it but Foster manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lumsden to the ground. Lumsden escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Lumsden tries to close the distance and clinch up but Foster swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Foster is looking to take this one to the mat.

Foster ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Foster no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Foster throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Lumsden looking to sit in guard and control but Foster gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Lumsden utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Lumsden jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Foster walks away with a smile on his face. Lumsden gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Foster jumps guard and drags Lumsden to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Foster bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lumsden's guard.
Lumsden tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Foster trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Foster sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lumsden's guard.

Foster decides to stand and escape the position.
Foster keeps the fight on the outside.
Foster avoids a punch combination nicely.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lumsden drives through and clinches with Foster against the cage.

Brock Foster seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lumsden is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That was a close second round but I would say that Matthew Lumsden will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Foster fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lumsden avoids it really well and circles away.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Matthew Lumsden.
I think Lumsden has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
