The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rivera fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Burns to the ground. Rivera is now in Burns's guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Burns looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Rivera trying to control but Burns is working from the bottom.

Rivera must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Burns wants to stand up but Rivera is controlling him.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Burns tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Rivera fails with a takedown attempt.
Rivera closes the distance and clinches up with Burns, looking for a takedown. Rivera pushes Burns against the cage but Burns circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Burns feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Rivera's calf.
Rivera shoots in and drives through. Burns sprawls well.
Christine Burns has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mountain Rivera.

Burns throws a sloppy head kick and Rivera moves out of range easily.

Christine Burns is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rivera fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Burns avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Christine Burns seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rivera shoots in looking for a takedown. Burns tries to sprawl out of it but Rivera keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Burns manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Burns throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Both fighters circling a little - Burns finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rivera on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Rivera takes a kick to the side of the head.

It looks like Mountain Rivera has been cut.
A slapping body kick lands there for Burns.
Rivera blocks a head kick by Burns.

Burns lands a big head kick that sends Rivera tumbling to the mat! Burns takes a step backwards and waves Rivera back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Burns throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Burns feints with a left and delivers a massive head kick! Rivera collapses like a ragdoll! Game over!
