PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mihai Matei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tobias Krug (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matei's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, MitiS & MaHi - Blu. On his way into the cage it seems that Mihai Matei has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Mihai Matei seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tobias Krug!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and Richard Clark.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Krug misses with a jab, cross combination.
A right-left combo lands from Matei.

It looks like Tobias Krug has been cut.
A head kick misses from Krug.
Krug slips a jab and a cross from Matei.
Matei misses with a wild combination.
Matei misses with a series of wild punches.
Matei throws a right and a left that Krug avoids nicely.
Matei scores with a body shot.
Matei lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Krug doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Krug shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Matei napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Matei is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Krug has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Krug wants to control but Matei is keeping him busy.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Matei sneaks out the side door and pushes Krug away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Krug will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mihai Matei seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Oooooh!!! Matei has knocked Krug down with a huge combo! Matei steps away and waves a wobbly Krug back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Matei lands a left and a right that send Krug crashing to the mat, dazed. Matei thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Krug is rocked!
Matei misses with the combination.
Krug is still on wobbly legs! Can Matei finish him?
No joy there for Matei, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Krug seems to have recovered his senses.
Matei throws a series of punches but Krug moves out of range.
Matei stalks Krug and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Krug's face. Krug staggers backwards, shaken.

That has opened up Tobias Krug's cut even more.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Krug shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Matei sprawls well. Matei wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Krug gets slowly back to his feet.
Krug looks winded!
Nice sprawl there from Matei as Krug shoots in.
Mihai Matei has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tobias Krug.
Matei misses with a few strikes there.
Krug throws a head kick that misses.
Danga de danga de dang - Matei scores with a four punch combination!
Matei pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Krug back to the cage. Matei follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Krug on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Matei lands a jab to the head.
Krug throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Matei lands a nice hook to Krug's body. Krug takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Matei connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Krug! He's out on his feet! Matei rushes in and drops Krug with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Mihai Matei!
A relieved looking Mihai Matei thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
