Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fred Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Lezema (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lezema has chosen Weird Al Yankovic - Fat song as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Diego Lezema!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Hugh Johnson and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lezema dodges the punch combination from Patterson.

Lezema moves into the clinch successfully.
Patterson is trying to break the clinch but Lezema has him pressed against the cage.

Lezema has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Patterson uses from the top position.

Lezema has his foot on Patterson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Patterson works his way back into a safe position though.
Patterson wants to control from the top but Lezema keeps moving.

Patterson drops back looking for a leg! Lezema is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lezema manages to kick Patterson off! Patterson jumps back into Lezema's guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Lezema lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Patterson could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

and Patterson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Patterson.

Lezema turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Lezema tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lezema has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Patterson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Patterson looking to sit in guard and control but Lezema gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Patterson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lezema gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Lezema is working Patterson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Lezema must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Patterson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lezema paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Lezema stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Lezema fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Patterson is out of range.

Patterson has Lezema pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Lezema manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Lezema digs a right hand underneath Patterson's ribcage. Patterson let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Lezema has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Patterson is trying to keep an underhook but Lezema manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Lezema is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Lezema is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Patterson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Lezema is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Patterson is surviving well by controlling Lezema's body position as best he can.

I would just about give that final round to Diego Lezema.
I've got Lezema winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
