PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dawson Creek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Barnes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Paulo Santos and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Creek looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Barnes is fending him off so far but Creek persists. Nope, Barnes circles away and we're back to standing.
Creek misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Creek looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dawson Creek. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Creek shoots in but Barnes avoids the takedown attempt easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Creek wants to clinch.
Creek fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Creek changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Barnes tries to avoid it but Creek manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Barnes to the ground. Barnes escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Creek fails with a takedown attempt.

Creek decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Barnes is trying to control but can't.
Barnes slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Creek drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Barnes manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Creek has Barnes in his guard.
Barnes cracks Creek with a solid left hand.
Barnes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Barnes passes Creek's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Creek actively working from the bottom here.
Barnes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Creek. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Creek looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Barnes postures up and lands a big shot to Creek's brow.
Barnes distracts Creek with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Creek escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Barnes gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Creek is breathing heavily.
Barnes trying to control the position from guard on top but Creek is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Barnes postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Barnes won't allow Creek to sweep him here.

Barnes wants to free his trapped foot but Creek is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Barnes landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Barnes prevents Creek from standing back up.

Creek is staying active underneath Barnes, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Creek wants to get back to full guard.
Barnes is nestled in close to Creek, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Barnes lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Brock Barnes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Barnes seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Creek had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Barnes is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Creek Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Barnes's back instead.

Creek working for a choke but Barnes is defending well.
Barnes tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Barnes tries to lock up and control but Creek gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Barnes swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Barnes throwing hammer fists to the chest of Creek. What's that going to do exactly?
Creek looking to control but Barnes is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Barnes is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Creek doesn't have the hooks in and Barnes manages to turn into his guard.

Creek is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Creek thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Creek is trying to control but can't.
Creek is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Barnes's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Barnes's back!

Creek is trying to stick to Barnes's back but Barnes is turning into Creek. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Creek's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Barnes.

Creek pulls Barnes in close to prevent any damage.
Dawson Creek has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
