PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Billy Brogden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trevon Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brogden comes to the ring accompanied by "The Bleeding" Five Finger Death Punch. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Illya Tyunina and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin throws a nice looking combination but Brogden bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Brogden tries to clinch there but Martin circles away.
Billy Brogden seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Martin dives in and scores a takedown into Brogden's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Brogden has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Martin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Brogden has a closed guard, preventing Martin from standing up.

Martin wants to pass the guard but Brogden is keeping the position.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Brogden has his foot on Martin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Martin works his way back into a safe position though.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Trevon Martin was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Brogden is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Brogden is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Martin reverses the position - he's now on top in Brogden's guard.
Martin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brogden. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Martin throws a big elbow that misses.
Brogden wants to get back to his feet but Martin is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Martin throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Brogden sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Brogden shoots in looking for a takedown. Martin tries to sprawl out of it but Brogden keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Martin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Martin connects with a nice short shot to Brogden's temple.

Martin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Brogden has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Martin has managed to get both his arms back between Brogden's legs - danger averted.

Martin drops back, looking for a kneebar! Brogden looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Brogden looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Brogden!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Martin is looking for a sweep.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Billy Brogden.
I think Brogden has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
