Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Deus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and TsanSpec USpec (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). TsanSpec USpec is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
USpec gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Deus counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Deus.

Deus gets to his feet - USpec follows without any prompting.

USpec gets tackled into the cage by Deus. Deus maintains the clinch.

Deus's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Deus gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Deus wants a takedown but no success here.

Deus is trying to trip USpec. He has hold of a leg but USpec is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Deus persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

USpec is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

USpec has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Deus can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Deus knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for USpec on the ground.

Deus lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for USpec!
USpec wants to hold on but Deus pushes him away.

Deus has hold of USpec's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and USpec manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Deus looking to control but USpec is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Deus goes for an armbar but USpec turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from USpec.
USpec keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Deus's head.
USpec has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Deus has his foot on USpec's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. USpec works his way back into a safe position though.

Deus kicks USpec off and gets to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
USpec tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Deus manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Deus will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

USpec fails with a takedown attempt.
Deus scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Deus drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

USpec shoots in for a takedown but Deus shows good takedown defense.

Deus gets control of USpec's arms and successfully pulls guard. Deus will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

We're going to have a standup here because Michael Deus wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

USpec is concentrating on defense, preventing Deus from advancing position.

USpec has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Deus is working away from the top position though.
USpec throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Deus stands up out of the half guard.
USpec avoids the head kick by Deus.
Deus ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

USpec gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

USpec tries to close the distance and clinch up but Deus swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Deus misses with a takedown attempt - USpec sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Deus throws the kick towards the body but USpec avoids it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Horrible takedown by Deus or perhaps it was just good defense by USpec which made him look bad.
USpec shoots in but Deus avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Deus postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for USpec to stand up.
Deus changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. USpec tries to avoid it but Deus manages to keep hold of a leg and drag USpec to the ground. USpec escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Deus forces USpec back against the cage and clinches.
Come on Deus - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
USpec drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

USpec jumps guard but Deus turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Deus breaks from the clinch.

USpec keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
USpec moves in looking to clinch but Deus pushes him off.
USpec on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Deus tries to score a power double leg takedown but USpec sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Deus somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Deus. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
USpec is fighting to break Deus's control of his arms but Deus is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
