Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Oskar Kokoshka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacob Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kokoshka's entrance music is Baba O'Riley. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Oskar Kokoshka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jacob Smith!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Donatello Bradman and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith fails with the takedown
and Kokoshka connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
A combination from Smith does no damage.
Smith has his takedown stuffed
and Kokoshka counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch but Kokoshka swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Smith shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kokoshka pinned against the cage. Kokoshka gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Oskar Kokoshka has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jacob Smith.
Kokoshka will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Smith shoots for a takedown but Kokoshka saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Smith tries to clinch up
and Smith takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Smith shoots in for a double leg but Kokoshka sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smith looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Smith fails with the takedown
and Kokoshka counters with a good, hard body kick but Smith shrugs it off.
Smith doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Kokoshka counters with a three punch combo that has Smith backing up. Smith nods at Kokoshka to acknowledge the strikes.
Smith looks to clinch
and Kokoshka cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Smith will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Smith looks winded!
Nice straight punches there by Kokoshka. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Kokoshka.
Kokoshka lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Some wild striking there from Kokoshka.
Smith wants to clinch.
Smith fails with the takedown.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kokoshka's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Kokoshka duly obliges.
Jacob Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kokoshka, as that shot connected.
Smith blocks a low kick nicely.

Kokoshka closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Smith to the mat! Smith manages to get full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Smith working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kokoshka doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kokoshka manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Kokoshka loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Kokoshka seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Smith looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Kokoshka throwing strikes from guard but Smith blocks nicely.
Smith utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smith tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kokoshka makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Kokoshka trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Kokoshka's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Kokoshka trying to control but Smith is working from the bottom.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Smith is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kokoshka is aware though and is defending well.
Kokoshka working some strikes from top position.
Kokoshka postures up and lands a big shot to Smith's brow.

Smith is looking for a triangle but Kokoshka pushes his legs off easily.
Kokoshka wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.
Kokoshka really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Kokoshka is in close to Smith's body, working some short punches and elbows.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Smith utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Smith has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kokoshka can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Kokoshka throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Smith works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Smith is looking for a triangle but Kokoshka pushes his legs off easily.
Kokoshka postures up in Smith's guard and throws a big left but Smith blocks it.
Kokoshka tries to stand but Smith is controlling from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kokoshka accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kokoshka has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kokoshka working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Kokoshka throws a big right hand that misses.

Smith working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kokoshka doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Smith is tightening it up a little... Kokoshka has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Kokoshka reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Kokoshka taps out! Nice BJJ there by Smith!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Jacob Smith!
