The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ness tries to clinch up
and Cherry counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Ness 's guard now.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Cherry is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Ness is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Ness looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cherry passes into half guard.
Cherry is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Cherry is thwarting Ness 's attempts to control the position.
Ness is looking for a sweep. Cherry is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cherry wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ness keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Cherry in particular looking to stall.
Buster Cherry has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Cherry slips a straight right by Ness .
Ness fails in his attempt to clinch.
Cherry dodges the punch combination from Ness .
Ness misses with a hook. Cherry ducked under it nicely.
Ness moves to clinch but Cherry breaks away
and Cherry counters with a good, hard body kick but Ness shrugs it off.
Cherry uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ness .
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cherry slips a jab from Ness .
Ness tries to close the distance and clinch but Cherry swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Cherry is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Ness 's half guard.
Ness is trying to get back to full guard.
Ness trying to control from the bottom.
Cherry prevents Ness from improving his position.
Cherry decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ness feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Cherrys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Cherry takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Cherry tries to move into range but Ness moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ness connects with a good right hand that stumbles Cherry. Cherry circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Cherry darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Ness works his way to full guard. Good work.
Cherry controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Cherry is breathing heavily.
Cherry trying to control but Ness is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
We're going to have a standup here because Buster Cherry wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Cherry moves out of range of the strikes.
Cherry with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Ness to score with a decent uppercut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ness tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Cherry counters with an outside leg kick.
Horrible takedown by Cherry or perhaps it was just good defense by Ness which made him look bad.
Cherry tries to move into range but Ness moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ness drops Cherry with a beautiful combination! Cherry stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Ness is looking for the KO!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Proffesor Ness dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Ness drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Cherry right on the button. Cherry goes down! Ness follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Ness gets the win via TKO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Proffesor Ness !
