PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Piotr Zajdler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kilgore Trout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kilgore Trout told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Piotr Zajdler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kilgore Trout!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trout throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Zajdler lands a jab to the head.
Zajdler connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Trout momentarily.
Zajdler throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Zajdler lands a nice shot that snaps Trout's head back.
Zajdler scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Trout shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Zajdler pinned against the cage. Zajdler gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Trout is trying desperately to land a takedown but Zajdler is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Trout.

Zajdler lands a jab to the head.
Zajdler tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Trout is able to avoid easily.
Zajdler connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Nice uppercut lands for Zajdler. That snapped Trout's head back.
Zajdler keeps the fight on the outside.

Zajdler does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Zajdler swats away the attempt to clinch by Trout.
Trout takes a body punch but keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Zajdler's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Trout with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Zajdler to score with a decent uppercut.

Zajdler throws a front kick aimed at Trout's knee but Trout avoids it well.

Zajdler bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

and Trout decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Zajdler's guard.

Trout pushes down on Zajdler's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Zajdler is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Trout can do to turn this around?

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Zajdler is squirming around, avoiding Trout's attempts to control the action.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Trout has hold of Zajdler's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Zajdler manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Trout cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Zajdler on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Zajdler tries to get out of the position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Trout looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Zajdler is fending him off so far but Trout persists. Nope, Zajdler circles away and we're back to standing.
