PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Random Task (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuri Rook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rook comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Mr Krinkle kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Random Task!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yuri Rook!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rook shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Task napping and manages to drive through into side control!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Rook prevents Task from escaping the position.
Rook looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Task is avoiding damage well.
Rook in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Rook working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Rook trying to control the action but Task is working from the bottom.
Rook has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Rook creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Task sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Task is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Task is not content to let Rook control the position.

Rook working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Rook swings around for an armbar but Task sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Rook's guard.

Rook has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Task can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Rook has his foot on Task's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Task works his way back into a safe position though.

Rook has control of Task's left arm, preventing Task from doing any damage.

Task got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rook has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Task has managed to get both his arms back between Rook's legs - danger averted.

Rook looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Rook is pulling down on Task's head to control his posture.

Rook is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rook thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Task is fighting to break Rook's control of his arms but Rook is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Yuri Rook wasn't active enough on the ground.
Task throws a looping overhand right but Rook ducks down to avoid it.
Rook takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.


It looks like Yuri Rook has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Horrible takedown by Rook or perhaps it was just good defense by Task which made him look bad.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Task swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A slapping leg kick lands for Task.
Task doesn't manage to clinch there - Rook circles away.
Rook fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Rook.
Rook is trying to ground and pound but Task uses the momentary lack of control by Rook to regain half guard.

Rook thows a huge punch but Task dodges it nicely.
Yuri Rook has got the better of the ground game so far.

Rook stops Task from getting back to his feet.

Nice strikes from Rook there.

Rook looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Task is looking to escape.
Rook is just content to waste time from the top position. Task takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Rook wants to control from the top but Task keeps moving.

Rook is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Task is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Task has escaped and now he's on top!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Task trying to stand up but can't free himself from Rook's guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Rook tries to move into range but Task moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Rook misses with a takedown attempt

and Task counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Rook!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Task decides to stand up, so the ref orders Rook to his feet.
Rook keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Task.
Rook fails to land the takedown.
Rook gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Task counters with a body kick that stops Rook in his tracks momentarily.
Random Task has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yuri Rook.
Rook shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Task defends it nicely.
Rook is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Rook takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Task throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Task doesn't manage to clinch there - Rook circles away.
Rook takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Ohhhhhhhhhh, brutal head kick from Task! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Random Task!
A very excited looking Random Task made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
