PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mano Thao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorge Cachacinha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thao comes to the cage accompanied by Sabotage. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thao slaps away a takedown attempt from Cachacinha, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Thao moves into the clinch.
Cachacinha blocks the elbow strike.
Thao with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Thao tries to stall but Cachacinha uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Thao breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Thao clinches up with Cachacinha and pushes him back against the cage.

Cachacinha has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Thao uses from the top position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Cachacinha has his feet on Thao's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Cachacinha tries to close the distance and clinch but Thao swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Cachacinha is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Thao is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jorge Cachacinha hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Cachacinha throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Thao's waist but Thao gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cachacinha off to one side.
Mano Thao has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jorge Cachacinha.

Thao forces Cachacinha back against the cage and clinches.
Cachacinha tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Thao smiles and moves away.

Thao wants to get up but he can't break Cachacinha's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Cachacinha seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Cachacinha sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Cachacinha has hold of Thao's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Thao manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Cachacinha is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Thao can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Thao not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
