The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shields darts in and clinches King up against the cage.
King has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Shields regains guard immediately.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Shields looking for a sweep. Not yet Shields, not yet.
King is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

King passes easily into side control. Nice work.
You can see the frustration on Shields's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

King's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Shields is working to avoid the ground and pound but King connects with a decent elbow.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shields can do anything to dispel that myth.
King thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Shields is still in real trouble! Can King finish him?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
King scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Shields is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and King can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
