PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Shark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jin Sun Park (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jin Sun Park will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Robert Shark!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jin Sun Park!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yuuki Gou and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Park tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shark paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Park closes the distance and clinches.
Park swings wildly with an uppercut but Shark uses good head movement to avoid it.

Park manages to break the clinch.
Park tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Shark looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Shark looking to sit in guard and control but Park gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Shark is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Park controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Park won't allow Shark to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Shark escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Park gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Shark keeping moving, preventing Park from controlling successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jin Sun Park.
Park stuffs the takedown.
Park throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Shark's head.
Shark shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Park counters with a nice low kick that buckles Shark's knee momentarily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A swing and a miss from Shark.
Park darts in trying to clinch
and Shark counters with a left and a right that stings Park.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Shark dives in and grabs Park's left leg, looking for a takedown. Park pushes down on Shark's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robert Shark. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Shark closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Shark lands in his opponent's guard.

Shark decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Park stuffs the takedown.
Shark misses with a double jab
and Park counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Shark is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Park tries to clinch up.
Park lands with a slapping head kick.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Park.
Park looks winded!

Shark gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Park manages to break the clinch.
Park throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Shark.
Shark misses with a jab, cross combination.

Shark scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Shark trying to control the position but Park is working away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shark decides to take the fight back to the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Park enables Shark to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Park manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Shark's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Shark stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Shark rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Park moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Shark throws a head kick that misses.

Shark drives through with a takedown into Park's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Park tries to strike from the bottom.
Park is trying to keep Shark in close.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Shark with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Park is working an open guard so Shark takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robert Shark dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Park doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Jin Sun Park seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Park throws a head kick but Shark moves out of range.
Shark shoots in looking for a takedown but Park manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Shark's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Shark shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Park throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shark's waist but Shark gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Park off to one side.
Shark shoots in looking for a takedown. Park tries to sprawl out of it but Shark keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Park manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robert Shark. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shark misses with a two punch combination.

Shark closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Shark lands in his opponent's guard.
Shark throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Park is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Shark stands up over Park, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Shark postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Shark won't allow Park to get back to his feet.
Shark content to stall in guard here.

Shark decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Shark shoots in for a takedown but Park shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Shark moves into range and clinches up with Park.

Shark ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Shark no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Park trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Shark trying to strike off his back.

Shark is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Shark is adopting a defensive guard.
Shark has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Shark looking for a triangle here. Park is fighting it but it looks tight! Shark pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Park is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Robert Shark!
