PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joey Ju (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lee comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Game of Death kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Joey Ju has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joey Ju!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Kenichi Hosakawa and Ren Mimura.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ju is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ju misses with a takedown

and Lee moves into the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Ju's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Lee decides to pull guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Lee manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Ju is desperately trying to improve his position but Lee has a good base and remains in mount.

Lee seems to be working for a kimura but Ju defends the submission attempt.
Ju wants to get back to full guard.

Lee is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Lee is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Ju has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lee is working away from the top position though.
Ju pushes Lee off looking to stand but Lee dives back in and keeps control.
Lee is just content to waste time from the top position. Ju takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Lee wants to take a breather but Ju manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Lee.

Ju is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Bruce Lee wasn't active enough on the ground.
Ju fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lee avoids it really well and circles away.

Lee closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Ju throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lee's waist but Lee gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ju off to one side.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ju is on top in guard.

Lee changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ju tries to avoid it but Lee manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ju to the ground. Ju escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Ju is fighting off a takedown attempt but Lee is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Ju to the mat. Ju regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Bruce Lee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well Lee has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
