The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lowley dives in and grabs Thug's left leg, looking for a takedown. Thug pushes down on Lowley's head and hops out.

Lowley feints and as Thug raises his hands in defense, Lowley changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Thug controls Lowley momentarily but Lowley frees himself.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Nice sprawl there from Thug as Lowley shoots in.
Lowley changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Thug tries to avoid it but Lowley manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Thug to the ground. Thug escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lowley shoots in for a takedown but Thug shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Lowley is breathing heavily.

Joe Lowley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
