PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rod Cheney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Larry Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davis is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Radical Businessman. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Cheney. That did some damage!
Cheney throws the left hand but Davis avoids the punch easily.

Davis uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Cheney has time to react.

Davis avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Davis comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Cheney chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Davis can pounce on him.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Davis, as that shot connected.
Davis scoring well with a low kick there.
Cheney is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Davis catches Cheney with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Davis connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Davis makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Davis pushes Cheney back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Cheney is looking to break free of the clinch but Davis has double underhooks.
Cheney is trying to break the clinch but Davis has him pressed against the cage.

Davis jumps into guard, dragging Cheney to the mat.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Davis is on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Davis is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Cheney knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Davis on the ground.
Davis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cheney keeps working.

Davis looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Davis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Davis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Davis has an Americana. Cheney didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Davis is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Davis hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
