PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jason Hoft (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Vidal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hoft comes to the ring accompanied by Sympathy for the Devil - Guns n' Roses. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jason Hoft!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Vidal!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Dillan Fox.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vidal gets caught flat footed, as Hoft shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Hoft throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Vidal works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Vidal is looking for a triangle but Hoft pushes his legs off easily.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Hoft's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Hoft trying to control but Vidal is working from the bottom.

Hoft is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Vidal is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Vidal has escaped and now he's on top!
Vidal pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hoft is keeping the position for now.
Hoft knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vidal on the ground.
Vidal is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Hoft working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vidal doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vidal manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Hoft wants to stand up but Vidal is controlling him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hoft wants to sweep but no luck.
Vidal advances to half guard.
Vidal tries to stand and escape but Hoft is controlling the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Vidal tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Vidal. Hoft shrugs it off though.
Hoft is breathing heavily.
Vidal fails with the takedown.
Vidal tries to clinch but Hoft is having none of it.
Hoft shoots in looking for a takedown. Vidal tries to sprawl out of it but Hoft keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Vidal manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Hoft closes the distance and clinches.
Hoft is working for takedown but Vidal is calmly controlling the position for now.
Vidal is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Hoft is keeping busy.
Hoft prevents Vidal from breaking the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Vidal has had enough of the clinch but Hoft keeps him there for the moment.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Vidal wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hoft has him pressed against the ropes.
Vidal blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Knees in the clinch landing for Vidal.

Vidal pulls guard.
Hoft looking to sit in guard and control but Vidal gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Vidal passes into half guard.

Vidal seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Hoft is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
