The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De La Rue takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Alport fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. De La Rue looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Nick Alport hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Alport tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
De La Rue is looking to regain half guard here but Alport keeps moving and retains side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Alport shoots for a double leg takedown but De La Rue sprawls well. He's pushed Alport's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Alport changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. De La Rue tries to avoid it but Alport manages to keep hold of a leg and drag De La Rue to the ground. De La Rue escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
