The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Beast fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
The Beast looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
The Beast tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Akerei manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but The Beast might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Akerei has got the better of the exchanges.

Akerei feints a jab promting The Beast to slip. Akerei then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. The Beast slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Akerei fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and The Beast has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Akerei shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. The Beast eats them both and turns towards Akerei to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Akerei leaves The Beast with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Pelco Akerei has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pico The Beast.

Akerei tries to bum rush The Beast with a series of wild strikes but The Beast uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
The Beast's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Akerei connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! The Beast scrambles back to his feet.

and Akerei connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Akerei fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches The Beast on the side of the head.
The Beast shoots in looking for a takedown but Akerei manages to keep the fight standing, pushing The Beast's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The Beast shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Akerei as he jumps to the side.
Akerei is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that The Beast can do to turn this around?
The Beast takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
