Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnnie Wait (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Al Gold (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wait's entrance music is Say Hello. A fine choice. Gold has chosen Fire Bug as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johnnie Wait!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Al Gold!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Paul Gruel and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Gold misses.
Wait tries to close the distance and clinch but Gold swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Gold scores with a decent looking hook.


It looks like Johnnie Wait has been cut.

Wait moves into range and clinches up with Gold.
With the two fighters working up against the ropes, Wait just misses with a elbow thrown towards Gold's brow.

Wait creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Gold's defenses.

Wait's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Gold fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Gold looks to throw the jab but Wait is out of range.
Gold throws a big shot that misses.
Nice straight punches there by Wait. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Wait.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Wait cracks the inside of Gold's front leg.
Gold stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Gold wants it to stay on the feet.

Wait takes the fight into the clinch.

Wait breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Wait misses with a takedown attempt - Gold sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Gold fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Wait looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Al Gold seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wait bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Wait walks into a left hand.

Wait closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gold did well to prevent Wait getting side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gold is looking to escape.
Wait throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Wait missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Wait is pressing down on Gold's thigh, looking to free his foot. Gold is holding on for now.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Wait stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gold swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Wait in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Wait throws a big elbow that misses.

Wait trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Wait is looking to work some ground and pound but Gold has wrist control.
Gold wants to stand but Wait is controlling the position.
Wait missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Gold throws an overhand right that lands on Wait's shoulder, as Wait tries to avoid the shot.
Wait closes the distance and clinches up with Gold, looking for a takedown. Wait pushes Gold against the ropes but Gold circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Gold might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Wait closes the distance and pushes Gold back into the ropes.

Wait lands an elbow that stopped Gold in his tracks for a moment.


It looks like Al Gold has been cut.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
With the two fighters working up against the ropes, Wait just misses with a elbow thrown towards Gold's brow.

I would just about give that final round to Al Gold.
I think Wait has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
