Smith is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Bill Monroe & The Bluegrass Boys - Southern Flavor. John Smith has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Smith!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith misses with a looping left.
Smith throws the left hand but Lee avoids the punch easily.
Lee buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
A bone on bone clash there as Smith blocks the leg kick.
John Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lee moves out of range as Smith strikes.
Lee throws a leg kick but Smith sees it coming and moves out of range.

Smith darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Smith takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Lee throws a sloppy head kick and Smith moves out of range easily.
Lee takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Lee throws out a leg kick but Smith moves out of range and Lee only half commits.
Smith tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lee sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smith somewhat.

Smith looks to throw the jab but Lee is out of range.

Lee steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Smith.
Lee tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Smith is able to avoid easily.
Lee thumps Smith with a low kick.
Lee lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Smith shoots in and gets a takedown into Lee's guard.
Smith tries to free his leg and advance position but Lee is retaining full guard.
Smith throwing strikes from guard but Lee blocks nicely.
Lee avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Smith passes into half guard.
Smith thows a huge punch but Lee dodges it nicely.

Smith seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Smith misses with a head shot. Lee uses the momentum to regain guard.
Smith would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Lee is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Smith is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Smith throwing strikes but missing.
Lee will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Smith engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Smith with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smith stands up over Lee, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

John Smith is the new middleweight champion!
John Smith decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
