PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Laks Damn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Smokamus Cannibus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Laks Damn has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Laks Damn seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Damn throws a lazy uppercut
and Cannibus counters with a stiff right hand.

Cannibus ducks straight into an uppercut from Damn and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Cannibus manages to regain guard straight away.

It looks like Smokamus Cannibus has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cannibus looking for a sweep. Not yet Cannibus, not yet.
Cannibus is still in real trouble! Can Damn finish him?

We're going to have a standup here because Laks Damn wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Damn shoots in looking for a takedown. Cannibus tries to sprawl out of it but Damn keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cannibus manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Damn waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Cannibus. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Cannibus to the canvas! Can he finish him!?
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Damn is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Damn is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cannibus can do anything to dispel that myth.

Cannibus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Damn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Cannibus leaves Damn with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Cannibus counters with a shoot takedown. Damn fights it but they end up in guard.
Damn wants to stand and escape but Cannibus is having none of it.
Laks Damn overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Smokamus Cannibus.
Damn throws a low kick, looking for Cannibus's leg but Cannibus calmly moves out of range.

Damn shoots in looking for a takedown but Cannibus manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Damn's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

That was a close second round but I would say that Laks Damn will probably get the nod.
