PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Michaud Korrs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clay Guida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michaud Korrs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clay Guida!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Guida clinches up with Korrs and pushes him back against the cage.
Guida is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Korrs looking to stall.
Korrs really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Guida utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Guida stalling against the cage.
Korrs tries to break the clinch but Guida is controlling the position.

Guida manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Guida seems keen to control Korrs's posture.
Korrs stopping the sweep attempt from Guida.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Guida trying to keep a closed guard but Korrs is proving a slippery customer.
Guida looking for a sweep. Not yet Guida, not yet.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Guida is on top in guard.
Guida trying to control the position from guard on top but Korrs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Guida stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Korrs swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Guida advances to half guard.
Korrs taking some punishment here, with Guida in his half guard.
Guida is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Guida postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Korrs to stand up.
Korrs misses with a few strikes there.
Korrs tries to bum rush Guida with a series of wild strikes but Guida uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Korrs leaves Guida with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
No luck for Guida with that takedown attempt.
Some wild striking there from Korrs.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Korrs throws a right and a left that Guida avoids nicely.
Korrs throws a nice looking combination but Guida bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Guida shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Michaud Korrs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Clay Guida.
Korrs's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Guida connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Korrs scrambles back to his feet.

Guida feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Guida slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Guida connects with a couple of short punches.
Korrs knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Guida on the ground.
Guida distracts Korrs with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Korrs keeping moving, preventing Guida from controlling successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Korrs preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Guida trying to control the position from guard on top but Korrs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Guida has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Guida postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Guida showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Korrs preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Guida throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Clay Guida dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Guida connects with a leg kick. Korrs looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Guida fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Korrs takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Guida avoids the head kick by Korrs.

Guida scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Guida tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Guida content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Guida in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Guida has hold of Korrs's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Korrs tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Guida cranks the arm and Korrs screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Korrs, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Clay Guida!
Clay Guida decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
