PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mike Madman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys are coming into the fight with injuries so let's see if that has a bearing on the fight. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Black shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Madman napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Madman on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Madman tries to get out of the position.
Madman is breathing heavily.
Madman managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Black.

Black stands up.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Black checks a leg kick.
Black shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Madman but Madman pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Black gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Black breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Black clinches with his opponent.
Madman is trying to stall.
Black gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Madman.
Madman is trying to break the clinch but Black has him pressed against the cage.

Black can't break the clinch.
Black is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Madman is keeping busy.
Madman misses with a hook from the clinch.
Black is working for takedown but Madman is calmly controlling the position for now.
Madman prevents a takedown attempt there.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Madman is working an open guard so Black takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Madman throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Black rushes Madman and presses him up against the cage.
Madman keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Black's efforts to push away.

Black works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Black has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Madman is proving hard to escape from.
Black advances position into side control!

Black decides to take the fight back to the feet.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Black shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Madman as he avoids it easily.

Madman has closed the distance and engaged Black in a clinch.
Come on Madman - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Madman is pressed up against the cage. Black has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Madman down to the mat. Madman avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
A head kick misses from Madman.
Black shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Madman as he jumps to the side.
Black shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Madman sprawls well. Madman wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Black gets slowly back to his feet.

Madman gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Black lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Black jumps guard but Madman turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Madman breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Black is defended easily by Madman.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Michael Black was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Black closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Madman's guard.

Madman is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Black passes into half guard.
Black frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Black scoring with strikes but Madman is staying in there.
Black lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

BOOM! Black connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Black is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Madman can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
