PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chong Li (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Mund (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mund takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mund is defended easily by Li.
Mund looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Li is fending him off so far but Mund persists. Nope, Li circles away and we're back to standing.
Mund fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Li avoids it really well and circles away.
Chong Li has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Justin Mund.

Li moves into the clinch.
Mund avoiding damage as Li throws knees to the body.

Mund has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Li avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Mund throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Li's waist but Li gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mund off to one side.

Mund uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Li.

A frustrated look appears on Mund's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Mund wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Li has him pressed against the cage.

Li tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mund sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Li somewhat.
Horrible takedown by Mund or perhaps it was just good defense by Li which made him look bad.
Li lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Li lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Li has Mund pressed against the cage, preventing Mund from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Mund manages to break the clinch.
Li lands a slapping body shot.
Li throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mund stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Li clinches up with Mund and pushes him back against the cage.
A nice right hand lands inside from Li.

It looks like Justin Mund has been cut.
Li is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Mund is defending well for now.

Mund is trying desperately to land a takedown but Li is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Mund.

Li ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Li no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mund accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mund wants to stand and escape but instead Li has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Li would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Mund shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Li as he avoids it easily.

A nice left hand lands by Mund.

Chong Li is winning the standup battle so far.
Mund does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Mund shoots in but no luck this time.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mund changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Li tries to avoid it but Mund manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Li to the ground. Li escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

That has opened up Justin Mund's cut even more.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Li swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Mund has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Li escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Li cracks Mund with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Li has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Mund to stand back up!

Mund is rocked!

The cut above Justin Mund's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Mund fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mund is still on wobbly legs! Can Li finish him?
Mund takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mund shoots in but Li avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mund seems to have recovered his senses.
Li is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mund can do to turn this around?

Mund walks into a straight right, dropping him to the canvas! Li swarms him and finishes the fight with a hail of punches! What a brutal finish!
