The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hard takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Hard throws a front kick aimed at Busey's knee but Busey avoids it well.
Gary Busey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hard shoots in and drives through. Busey sprawls well.
A chopping leg kick lands by Hard.

Hard fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Busey.

Hard is landing with some decent strikes but Busey is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Hard has hold of Busey's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Busey manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Hard unloads with some shots from mount but Busey bucks and avoids them well.
Busey avoids a strike by Hard and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Hard's guard! Fantastic escape!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Busey is looking to stand up but Hard won't let him.

Busey wants to get up but he can't break Hard's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hard will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Hard is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Busey is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Hard postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Hard lands a decent elbow from side control.
Busey parries the strikes from Hard easily there. Hard is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Busey to escape.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hard lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Busey down.

Hard misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hard attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Hard moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Busey has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Hard.
A solid leg kick lands there for Hard.
Good leg kick by Hard there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Hard has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Hard feints and as Busey raises his hands in defense, Hard changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

That's time! Busey's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Busey using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Hard has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Hard looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Busey with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Busey seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Hard working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Busey doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Busey manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Hard had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Busey is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Hard Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Busey's back instead.

Hard is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Hard gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Hard gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Hard apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Gary Busey has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well Hard has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
