Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Kirby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Devon James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kirby comes to the cage accompanied by Forgot about dre.. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Kirby!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Devon James!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Bruno Hogan and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Kirby throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A punch lands to the side of James 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Some wild striking there from James.
Kirby pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces James back to the cage. Kirby follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
James scores with a punch to the head.
Kirby swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and James counters with a series of strikes. Kirby will be more careful next time no doubt.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kirby will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Kirby throws a body punch but James moves out of range.
Kirby throws a looping overhand right but James ducks down to avoid it.

James drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Kirby throws a low kick but it's checked well by James.
Kirby connects with a solid leg kick.
Kirby misses with a hook.
Kirby throws a wild body kick that James sees coming a mile off.
James throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
John Kirby is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

James jabs Kirby right on the nose. Kirby blinks but takes it well.


It looks like John Kirby has been cut.
James walks into a straight right hand from Kirby.
James dips to his left and cracks Kirby with an uppercut!
Kirby cracks James with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kirby connects with a right hand. James shakes it off.

James closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kirby to the mat! Kirby manages to get full guard.
James works a leg free and moves into half guard.

James decides to return to a standing position.
James throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Kirby misses with a straight left.
James throws a series of punches but Kirby avoids them all with ease.
Kirby ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
James tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Kirby thuds a left hand into James's body.
Kirby showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from James.
James has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kirby.
Kirby buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
John Kirby seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kirby swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kirby slips under a jab from James.
James moves out of range of the body kick from Kirby.
James bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
James gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Kirby throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

James takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kirby lands with a nice combination. James backs away looking to recover.

James rushes Kirby and presses him up against the cage.
Kirby throws a punch but it's blocked by James.

That was a close round but I would say that John Kirby will probably get the nod.

Kirby wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but James has him pressed against the cage.
Kirby is trying to force a seperation but James has the dominant position.
Kirby misses with a hook to the ribs.

Kirby escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Kirby attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
James tries to clinch but Kirby moves out of range.

and Kirby takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
James ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
James paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Kirby scores with a decent looking hook.
James bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Kirby throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kirby jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kirby throws a predictable looking body shot
letting James counter with a right hand.
Kirby misses with a left hand
and James counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
James might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Kirby throws out a loose jab but James uses good head movement to avoid it.

That was a close second round but I would say that John Kirby will probably get the nod.

James drops his hands momentarily and Kirby takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Kirby is looking to slow James down with leg kicks.
Kirby walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. James checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Kirby throws a hook but James avoids it easily.
Kirby thows a left - swing and a miss!
John Kirby is winning the standup battle so far.
Kirby throws a jab but it's blocked by James.
James takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Kirby throws an overhand right that lands on James's shoulder, as James tries to avoid the shot.

and James counters with a left to the body.
James lands a jab to Kirby's midsection.
James ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Kirby throws a shot from downtown. James moves away and avoids it.
Kirby dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
James scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
James's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

James throws the left hand but Kirby avoids the punch easily.

Kirby looks to land a right hand but James moved out of range.

James with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Kirby to score with a decent uppercut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
James gets cracked there but stands up to it.
James shoots in looking for a takedown but Kirby manages to keep the fight standing, pushing James's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

and James counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Kirby is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Kirby looks to land a left hand but James moved out of range nicely.
Kirby throws a right hand that James ducks under and follows up with a left that James also avoids with ease.
James fails in his attempt to clinch.
James shoots for a double leg takedown but Kirby sprawls well. He's pushed James's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
James moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Kirby has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Kirby there as he acknowledges the shot.
Kirby feints and then cracks James's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow James down.

James tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kirby was well out of range. Poor timing from James.

and James counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
James uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kirby.

Kirby fakes high and swings low for a body shot but James manages to avoid it.
James has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.

John Kirby is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Kirby.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kirby, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
