Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joao Davi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kip Palmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davi has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Joao Davi has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joao Davi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Palmer.
Davi is breathing heavily.
Palmer swinging wilding here.
Palmer buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Palmer has taken the fight to the clinch.
Palmer misses with an elbow over the top.
Palmer is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Davi can't fight it off and eventually Palmer manages to take the fight to the floor. Davi looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Palmer gets to his feet. Davi looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Palmer throws a head kick that half lands.
Palmer misses with a jab, cross combination.
Kip Palmer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Palmer creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Davi shoots for a double leg takedown but Palmer sprawls well. He's pushed Davi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Palmer pushes Davi off and scrambles back to his feet.
Palmer moves into the clinch.
Palmer has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Davi avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Davi is trying to trip Palmer. He has hold of a leg but Palmer is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Davi persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Palmer will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Palmer looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Palmer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Davi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That was a close round but I would say that Joao Davi will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Davi looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Davi dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Palmer. That did some damage!
Palmer misses with a takedown
and Davi counters by moving into the clinch.
Palmer tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Davi smiles and moves away.

and Davi counters with a nice low kick that buckles Palmer's knee momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Palmer looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Palmer throws a head kick but Davi moves out of range.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Davi has a takedown stuffed.

Palmer closes the distance and clinches.
Palmer has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Davi is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Davi goes for a takedown attempt but Palmer pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Davi shoots and misses
and Palmer counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Palmer.
Palmer changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Davi fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Palmer fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Davi, pushing him back against the cage.
Palmer turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Davi manages to work his way to half guard, despite Palmer's best efforts.
Davi gets back to full guard.
Palmer stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Palmer wants to clinch
and Davi counters with a shoot takedown. Palmer fights it but they end up in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Palmer is looking to stand back up but Davi counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Palmer.
Palmer tries to bench press Davi off him but Davi keeps the position.
Palmer wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Palmer is trying to improve his position.

Davi wants to control but Palmer is keeping him busy.
Palmer is pushing Davi's head away, looking to escape. Davi manages to hold on to the position though.
Davi is staying tight to Palmer's torso, preventing him from escaping.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Palmer shoots and misses
and Davi counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Davi is looking to take a break and control but Palmer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Davi tries to pass to full mount but Palmer defends it.

Palmer pushes Davi off looking to stand but Davi dives back in and keeps control.
Davi is taking a breather. Palmer says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Palmer is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Davi's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Davi's back!
Palmer somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.

Davi has hold of Palmer's arm. He needs to escape this position sooner or later but for now he's happy enough to control the position and prevent the submission attempts.

Palmer has closed the distance and engaged Davi in a clinch.
Palmer gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Palmer tries for a takedown. No joy.
Palmer tries to pull guard but Davi won't allow it.

Palmer is fighting off a takedown attempt but Davi is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Palmer to the mat. Palmer regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Palmer tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Palmer pushes Davi off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

and Palmer counters with a three punch combo that has Davi backing up. Davi nods at Palmer to acknowledge the strikes.

Palmer decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Palmer wants to stand up but Davi is controlling the position.
Davi is trying to maintain the position but Palmer is very close to passing his half guard.
Palmer prevents Davi from improving his position.
Palmer working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Davi's thigh. Davi counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Davi is looking to sinch up a triangle. Palmer throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Davi's body to avoid the submission. Davi has instead reached around Palmer's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Davi arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
