PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Colt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Kenny (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bobby Colt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bruce Kenny!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Donald Grub and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kenny throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Colt's waist but Colt gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kenny off to one side.
Colt fails with the takedown.
Kenny wants to slow Colt down by chopping away at his legs.
Kenny keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Kenny tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Colt swivels and escapes.
Colt blocks a head kick by Kenny.
Colt tries to clinch but Kenny is having none of it.
Kenny slaps away a takedown attempt from Colt, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Kenny changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Colt tries to avoid it but Kenny manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Colt to the ground. Colt escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Colt shoots in for a double leg but Kenny sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Kenny should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Colt fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kenny, pushing him back against the cage.
Kenny prevents a takedown attempt there.
Kenny has Colt pressed against the cage, preventing Colt from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Colt's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kenny tries to score a power double leg takedown but Colt sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kenny somewhat.

Colt tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kenny paws at him with a jab and circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Bobby Colt will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Kenny will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Kenny has eaten all the pies!
Colt tries to clinch but Kenny is having none of it.
Kenny avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Colt shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kenny as he avoids it easily.

Kenny closes the distance and pushes Colt back into the cage.
Colt tries to break free but Kenny pushes him back against the cage.

Colt escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Colt is looking to clinch but Kenny is avoiding it.
Kenny looks for a takedown but Colt sprawls well.
Bobby Colt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruce Kenny.
Colt pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kenny fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Colt looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

and Kenny counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kenny.

Kenny breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Kenny closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kenny stuffs the takedown attempt from Colt. Colt gets slowly back to his feet.
Kenny wants to clinch up but Colt keeps it at a distance.
Colt takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Colt closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kenny circles away.
Kenny lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Colt backs up against the cage.
Kenny looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Colt is fending him off so far but Kenny persists. Nope, Colt circles away and we're back to standing.
Kenny shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Colt but Colt pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Colt shoots for a takedown but Kenny saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kenny thows a body kick. Colt tries to catch it but that hurt him.

Kenny wants to clinch up but Colt keeps it at a distance.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bruce Kenny showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!



Kenny closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Colt to the mat! Colt manages to get full guard.
Colt will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kenny throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Kenny slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Kenny trying to control the position from guard on top but Colt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kenny might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Colt haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Kenny takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Bruce Kenny hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Colt blocks a head kick by Kenny.

Colt moves into the clinch successfully.
Colt is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Kenny gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Colt is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Kenny to keep the fight standing.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Kenny. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Colt shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kenny as he jumps to the side.
Kenny shoots in looking for a takedown. Colt tries to sprawl out of it but Kenny keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Colt manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Colt displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kenny.
Colt lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Colt shoots for a double leg takedown but Kenny sprawls well. He's pushed Colt's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Kenny is working for takedown but Colt is calmly controlling the position for now.
Kenny is trying to drag Colt to the mat but Colt just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Kenny is looking to take this one to the mat.
Kenny is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Colt is defending well.

Kenny shoots in for a double leg but Colt sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kenny has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Colt.

Colt misses with a head kick.
Colt is looking to clinch but Kenny is avoiding it.
Kenny has a takedown stuffed.
Colt fails in his attempt to clinch.
Colt fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kenny fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Colt manages to avoid it.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Bruce Kenny.
I think Kenny has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
