PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Niupulusu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juliano Villar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Niupulusu comes to the cage accompanied by If You Dare. Villar has chosen The Prophet by Soulfly as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Juliano Villar!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Nard Betker and Paulsen Ambrosius.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Niupulusu throws out a leg kick but Villar moves out of range and Niupulusu only half commits.

Villar shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Niupulusu napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Villar swings around for an armbar but Niupulusu sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Villar's guard.

Niupulusu drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Niupulusu jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Villar is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Niupulusu is aware though and is defending well.

Villar is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Niupulusu off and has taken his back!

Villar is persistently looking for the submission but Niupulusu is defending it well.
You can see the frustration on Niupulusu's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Villar escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Niupulusu gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

and Niupulusu counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Villar thinking.
Niupulusu lands with an uppercut that bounces Villar off the cage and back into range.
Niupulusu lands with a hook. Villar tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Niupulusu scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Villar doesn't seem bothered though.
Niupulusu jabs Villar right on the nose. Villar blinks but takes it well.
Niupulusu throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Villar stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Villar takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Niupulusu uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Villar.
Villar misses with a takedown attempt - Niupulusu sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
