PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aima Hei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Davey Steeves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hei comes to the cage accompanied by Immortal Technique - The Rebel. On his way into the cage it seems that Aima Hei has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Aima Hei seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 4 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aima Hei!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Davey Steeves!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hei scores with a hook.
Hei slaps away a takedown attempt from Steeves, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Hei throws a looping overhand right but Steeves ducks down to avoid it.
Steeves is looking to chop away at Hei's legs.
Hei fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Steeves on the side of the head.

It looks like Davey Steeves has been cut.
Steeves is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Hei tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Steeves was well out of range. Poor timing from Hei.
Steeves connects with a leg kick. Hei looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Hei misses with a head kick.
Hei listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Steeves misses with a takedown attempt - Hei sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Hei stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Steeves.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Steeves defending well as Hei loads up on a big left hand.
Hei goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Steeves tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hei paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hei moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
A slow jab from Hei misses its intended target.
Steeves checks the leg kick.
Hei lands a front kick.
Hei plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Steeves fails with an attempt to clinch.
Steeves tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hei swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Hei throws an overhand right that lands on Steeves's shoulder, as Steeves tries to avoid the shot.
Steeves looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Hei keeps the fight on the outside.
Steeves tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Hei is able to avoid easily.
Steeves moves out of range of the body kick from Hei.
Hei on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Steeves rushes Hei and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Steeves blocking some punches.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Hei.

Steeves decides to pull guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Steeves working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hei doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hei manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Hei has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Steeves preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Hei trying to control the position from guard on top but Steeves is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Steeves is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Steeves is looking to cinch up a triangle. Hei throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Steeves's body to avoid the submission. Steeves has instead reached around Hei's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Steeves arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

After winning the bout, Davey Steeves thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
