PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Waturu Yatsubuta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edmund Dorrance (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yatsubuta comes to the cage accompanied by Sweet Child O' Mine. Dorrance has chosen Thou Shalt Always Kill as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Waturu Yatsubuta has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Waturu Yatsubuta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Edmund Dorrance!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Chris Edwards and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yatsubuta misses with a two punch combination.
Dorrance misses with a left hand

and Yatsubuta counters with a shoot takedown. Dorrance fights it but they end up in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Yatsubuta wants to control from the top but Dorrance keeps moving.
Dorrance wants to sweep but no luck.
Yatsubuta controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dorrance keeping moving, preventing Yatsubuta from controlling successfully.
Dorrance is trying to control the position from the bottom.

We're going to have a standup here because Waturu Yatsubuta wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Yatsubuta steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Dorrance.
Yatsubuta staying out of range there.
Edmund Dorrance seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Yatsubuta uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Dorrance.
Dorrance looks to throw the jab but Yatsubuta is out of range.
Dorrance throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Yatsubuta shoots in but Dorrance avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Dorrance lands a big uppercut and Yatsubuta crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Yatsubuta looks OK. Dorrance waves Yatsubuta back to his feet!


Yatsubuta is rocked!


It looks like Waturu Yatsubuta has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Dorrance misses the jab.
Dorrance is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Yatsubuta.
Dorrance thows a left - swing and a miss!
Yatsubuta throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A telegraphed right hand from Dorrance misses the target.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dorrance swings widly with a right hand

so Yatsubuta counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Dorrance keeping full guard, as Yatsubuta tries to pass.

Yatsubuta is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Dorrance tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Yatsubuta drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Yatsubuta jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yatsubuta wants to pass the guard but Dorrance is keeping the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Yatsubuta trying to control the position from guard on top but Dorrance is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Yatsubuta throwing strikes from guard but Dorrance blocks nicely.
Yatsubuta stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dorrance swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Yatsubuta is working hard here to advance position.
Yatsubuta slips nicely into half guard.

Yatsubuta is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Yatsubuta content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Yatsubuta wants to control but Dorrance is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Waturu Yatsubuta will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Waturu Yatsubuta's cut.
That's time! Yatsubuta's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Yatsubuta moves out of range as Dorrance strikes.
Dorrance cracks Yatsubuta with a good jab.
Yatsubuta shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dorrance as he jumps to the side.
Nice shot lands for Dorrance.
Oh Yatsubuta is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Dorrance flashes Yatsubuta a smile before throwing a beast of a right hand, straight down the pipe. Yatsubuta's eyes follow the hand right onto his nose, taking in it's full glory... and then darkness. Yatsubuta crumples to the floor! He's out cold! Dorrance punches the air and yells at the top of his lungs - yeeeeeeeeeeah!!!! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Edmund Dorrance!
