Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brian Venard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mee Thafa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Mee Thafa enters the cage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Venard gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Venard pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Venard throws a head kick that misses.
Venard with a hook.
Venard tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Venard misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Thafa closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Venard wants to get back to full guard.

Thafa is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Venard is just riding it out for now. Thafa eventually gives up the hold.

Thafa is looking for a kimura but Venard is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Thafa to get the leverage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Thafa seems to be looking for submissions.

Thafa is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Venard doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Thafa.

Thafa is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Venard defends it well.

Thafa is working for a kimura but Venard is defending it quite comfortably.
Venard wants to improve his position but Thafa is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thafa is thwarting Venard's attempts to control the position.
