PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Deep (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sinisa Veljko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Veljko is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Stemm - Face the pain. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Deep!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 15 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Sinisa Veljko!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Veljko throws the left hand but Deep avoids the punch easily.

Veljko forces Deep back against the cage and clinches.
Deep tries to break the clinch but Veljko is controlling the position.
Deep fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Deep tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Veljko is trying to trip Deep. He has hold of a leg but Deep is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Veljko persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Veljko advances to half guard.
Veljko throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Veljko with the ground and pound but Deep uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Veljko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Deep. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Veljko controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Let's hope that Veljko has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Veljko postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Veljko slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Veljko stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Deep swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Veljko must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sinisa Veljko has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Veljko shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Deep's guard.
Deep keeping moving, preventing Veljko from controlling successfully.

Deep is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Veljko has managed to free his arm - good work.

Deep is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Veljko sees it coming and defends easily.

Deep is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Veljko pushes Deep off and gets back to his feet.

Sinisa Veljko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fighters circling - Veljko throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Sinisa Veljko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Deep's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Sinisa Veljko is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Veljko lands a nice short elbow.
Johnny Deep has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Veljko in particular looking to stall.

Well Veljko has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
